Study of Slip Surface Effecting Factors for Loose Rock Slope

Determination of more representative repeated sliding surface (SS) for heterogeneous rock slope is one of the most important topic in slope engineering design. In this paper, limit-equilibrium method conjunction with slice method is selected to estimate the repeated SS. Firstly, repeated SSs were estimated with the limit-equilibrium method and then slice method was used to determine safety factor (FOS). A cut slope practical example, and its correlated SS were used to describe the capability and efficiency of the planned scheme. The method is founded to be effective and vigorous tool to illuminate issues that include actually complicated cut slope geometry. A finite different computer program FLAC3D (Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua) was also used to verify numerical results. The results showed that sliding surfaces are mostly parallel with repeated value and the general failures situated at the top of the cut slope. Statistically, general failure has entry and exit points situated at the upper most area of a cut slope. The distribution range of repeated (SS) decreases and at that time abruptly increases with an increase in cohesion over friction ratio. These findings will facilitate to mitigate risks of cut slope.
