People grow roselle extensively in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean because this Malvaceae species thrives in warm temperatures. People appreciate the plant because it serves many food and drink purposes while providing healing benefits and essential nutrients. The red color and powerful antioxidant power of hibiscus come from the many bioactive substances in its calyces, including anthocyanins, flavonoids, and phenolic acids. The plant contains essential vitamin B along with vitamins C and A plus nutritional fiber and mineral nutrients. The plant provides great value for health because its small caloric value and fat level make it ideal for nutritional supplements. People use it to create herbal tea blends and drinks, plus multiple other products like jam and syrup. People pick hibiscus tea because it provides refreshing drinks with a cranberry taste. Medical science recognizes H. sabdariffa because it helps the liver while reducing blood pressure and improving cholesterol levels. Traditional medical treatments, such as diabetes, hypertension which depend on hibiscus because it shows properties that reduce bacteria and inflammation.
