A Comparative Analysis of the Educational Systems of Japan and South Korea: Lessons for Pakistan

Education plays a fundamental role in a country's socio-economic development. It is believed that education was the primary driver of the miraculous economic growth of Japan and South Korea, as it provided a solid human resource base considered essential for economic development. This study has analysed the educational systems of these two countries in detail to understand their nature and what makes them among the best and most effective in the world. This study has focused on the historical evolution of their educational systems towards their present state and on the resultant socio-economic impacts. In the context of all this, it is found that there are serious flaws in Pakistan's educational system and policies, and we must learn from Japan and South Korea.
