Background: Carpal tunnel syndrome is one of the most predominant neuromuscular issue in pregnant women. Compression of median nerve within the tunnel causes numbness, tingling and pain along the distribution of median nerve. Objective of study:To determine the prevalence of carpal tunnel syndrome among pregnant women in Gujranwala; Pakistan Materials & Methods: This study was observation cross sectional survey. Epitool was used to collect sample size. Data was collected from pregnant women from different maternity care clinics. We used three different Questionnaire to collect data which includes; Symptoms severity scale, Functional status scale, Carpal Tunnel diagnostic questionnaire. Statistical Package for Social Sciences was used to conduct data analysis. Percentages and frequency tables was defined. Bar or pie chart was plotted. Results: Out of 250 pregnant females, 86 were diagnosed with CTS. The overall prevalence of CTS was 34.4%. Changes in hormonal and glucose level, increased weight gain during pregnancy, increased blood pressure, fluctuations in glucose metabolism, alcoholism and hypothyroidism are highly associated with the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. Conclusion: The overall prevalence of carpal tunnel syndrome among pregnant females in Gujranwala is about 34.4%.
