Abstract

To overcome the efficiency limit of traditional silicon solar cells, Perovskite–silicon tandem (PST) solar cells are emerging as a promising photovoltaic technology. This paper is a comparative study of tandem solar cells with a perovskite–silicon architecture. Key areas examined include energy conversion efficiency, fabrication techniques, stability, and commercialization prospects as well as future research directions. Recent developments have brought the efficiency of tandem solar cells to well over 33%, showing that these cells are a promising material for next generation renewable energy applications. But existing barriers to widespread adoption include material degradation, sensitivity to the environment, and manufacturing challenges.
