Bridging the Divide: A Collaborative Action Research project for Applied Linguists and Language Practitioners to close the Research-Practice Gap

Abstract

This  research paper  examines  the  constant divide  between  research  and  exercise in applied  linguistics and analyzes collaborative action research (CAR) as a  potential  solution for bridging this gap. Taking insights from literature on applied linguistics, professional development for teachers and the project discovers challenges. As similar as unaligned goals it also reflects on collaborative inquiry, structural  limitations and lack of usability. A collective effort including applied linguists and language professionals is explored as a research study. The data reveal that (CAR) promotes mutual understanding, creates contextually connected understanding, and improve professional standing. Meanwhile obstacles linked to time-spread design persist significant and power relations. The paper  points  the results  for  applied  linguistics  as  an  area  of  study, for  experts  as  skilled  workers, and  for  upcoming investigation avenues. The article sums up that connecting the  analysis  and implementation divide  involves  a  transfer  from  framework of  knowledge  to a collaborative design, location CAR as a helpful technique to an extra  incorporated  and  jointly  receptive self control.
