This literature review explores the integration of digital technology in higher education in Pakistan, focusing on tools such as Learning Management Systems, virtual classrooms, and educational apps. These innovations have enhanced access to learning resources, promoted student engagement, and supported flexible learning. The review identifies best practices for effective integration, including teacher training, internet accessibility, and aligning technology with course objectives. Despite these benefits, challenges persist particularly limited internet in rural areas, insufficient digital literacy, and inadequate infrastructure. Recent studies, however, have repeatedly shown that when technology is well integrated into the curriculum with effective support, it can enhance student outcomes and critical thinking. Some suggestions on how to improve technology use are offered in the study, including better support of professional development for teachers, more widespread connectivity, and the need for national policies. It also supports continued research on new tools such as AI and virtual reality in education.
