Abstract

Medicinal plants are the main source for the discovery of novel drugs. The current study evaluates the phytochemical analysis of leaves extract of Moringa oleifera (MO). The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) for leaves powder of MO indicated various functional groups such as carboxylic acid group (C=O stretching vibrations), amine (N-H stretching vibrations) and methyl (CH3 bending vibrations) etc. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) indicated that distilled water leaves extract of MO contain water soluble vitamins such as thiamine, ascorbic acid, nicotinamide, riboflavin and pyridoxine.
