Comparative Analysis of Cloud Computing Models (IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS) and Future of Virtualization Technologies

Abstract

Over the twenty years the move from physical server rooms to cloud environments has mostly been seen as a technical change. As digital infrastructure becomes more important to business it is important to look beyond what the vendors are saying and the technical guides to understand this shift in cloud environments. The paper also looks at virtualization, which's the key technology behind the shift to cloud environments. It follows virtualization from its days in hardware consolidation to its current forms, such as containers and serverless computing in cloud environments. Cloud environments are changing. Virtualization is a part of this change in cloud environments. Finally the paper suggests that as computing moves toward edge networks and hardware-based security, virtualization in environments is becoming more than just a way to split servers in cloud environments. Virtualization, in cloud environments is turning into a distributed system that could change how businesses think about trust, cost and capability in environments.
