Background:
This research studies the impact of behavioral enablers, Top Management Support (TMS) and User Involvement (UI), on Business Process Success (BPS) in mega construction projects (MCPs) in Pakistan. While previous study has highlighted structural and technical factors, limited consideration has been given to behavioral capabilities that form process effectiveness in complex project situations. Grounded in the Resource-Based View (RBV), finally enhancing project consequences.
Method:
A deductive, quantitative study design was adopted. Validated constructs from previous literature were adapted and tested with a structured survey administered to engineers, project managers, and stakeholders from 117 Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC)-registered construction firms. PLS-SEM was hired to test direct relationships between IVs and BPS.
Results:
Outcomes specify that both TMS and UI have significant and positive impacts on BPS, emphasizing their role as behavioral pillars for attaining stakeholder alignment, process efficiency, and governance quality. Firming process responsiveness under uncertainty and increasing executional success in MCPs.
Conclusion:
This research introduces a behavioral microfoundation for BPS within BPM literature, covering RBV to soft business resources in public infrastructure projects. It reconceptualizes project success as process-centered rather than purely outcome-focused. The research is limited to Pakistan’s MCPs and does not include private mega projects that may further explain behavioral-process associations. Future research explores longitudinal designs, and additional behavioral dimensions. Outcomes proposal actionable insights for policymakers and project leaders to institutionalize executive sponsorship and participatory governance mechanisms to reinforce internal process performance. Improving behavioral governance in MCPs reduces systemic inefficiencies, improves transparency, and maintenances sustainable socio-economic development in developing economies.
